Introducing the All District Reads Newsletter
Welcome to All District Read’s new monthly newsletter! The newsletter summarizes how ADR’s programs are bringing the gift of family reading to elementary students across southeastern Virginia. We hope you will enjoy the newsletter and share it with your friends. To learn more about All District Reads and its activities, visit our website.
Looking Back, Looking Forward
This spring, approximately 25,000 families across southeastern Virginia shared the magic of reading together through the All District Reads program. Looking ahead to this fall, elementary students in Northampton County Public Schools will read The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. Portsmouth Public Schools will expand its program to all K-6 students, and Norfolk Public Schools and Suffolk Public Schools will once again participate with all of their elementary students. Watch for further details about these fall programs in future issues of the newsletter. To see the impact that we had this past spring, read more here.
All District Reads Distributes 100,000th Book!
All District Reads distributed its 100,000th book this spring. “It’s exciting to reach this milestone in just two years—giving 100,000 books to start literacy fires in homes,” said All District Reads Founder Gary Anderson. “Once you start that fire, it burns on for generations.” Then he added, “We’re well on our way to a million!”

Help Us Provide the Gift of Reading to More Families
Providing the gift of reading to elementary school families across southeastern Virginia costs money. All District Reads conducts its program for just $12 per child per year (two free books + school support + program administration). To support our efforts, ADR continues to seek major funding from corporations, organizations, and various grants. YOU can help, too! A monthly or one-time gift can make a big difference in lighting literacy fires in students’ homes. Learn more here.
