Lots to Look Forward to!
All District Reads had a banner year in 2024! We anticipate even bigger accomplishments in 2025. In the works:
- Plans to make ADR even more integral in participating school divisions.
- Videos demonstrating the impact of our program.
- A book explaining ADR and giving participating districts tips on how to implement it.
Watch for updates throughout the year.
Reading Resolutions
The new year offers a great opportunity for trying new things. How about making some reading resolutions such as these:
- Set aside a regular family reading time (beyond the ADR program).
- Plan family trips to your local public library.
- Resolve to read a specific number of books in 2025.
- Schedule regular “digital detox” times to drop electronic media (and pick up a book).

Planning for a Super Spring of Reading
Elementary students in Suffolk Public Schools, Norfolk Public Schools, and Portsmouth Public Schools will soon be gearing up for their spring reading programs! Watch for announcements about book titles and launch dates in upcoming issues of the newsletter.
All District Reads in the News
The All District Reads labeling event in Norfolk was featured in a recent YouTube video from VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads. “VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads will have a huge impact on All District Reads,” said Jay Sarcone of the ADR Board of Directors in the video. “We have more than 10,000 books that we need to label for All Norfolk Reads, and so every little bit of help is hugely appreciated.” Watch the full video here.
WHRO Public Media spotlighted the All Suffolk Reads program in an article by Belinda Elliott posted online on November 8th. The article provides a nice overview of All Suffolk Reads and includes several photos. Access the full article here.

Sparking “Digital Detox”!
25,000+ families reading together.
100,000+ books distributed.
The numbers are impressive. Even more impressive is the difference All District Reads is making in the lives of families across Hampton Roads. This letter from a Portsmouth parent sums up the power of the program:

Help Us Spark the Love of Reading in 2025
Want to help provide books for LOTS of young readers during the year ahead? Here are two ways to support our mission to connect communities to local elementary students through the All District Reads program.
Visit the ADR website: Consider supporting our work by making a monthly donation through our Book Club or by giving a one-time gift of any size. Visit the ADR Donations page to learn more.
Use your IRA to make a lasting impact. If you’re over 70 and have an IRA, you can use a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to donate directly to All District Reads. Contact your tax professional about potential tax benefits. For details, please contact ADR board member Annette Wilson at info@alldistrictreads.org.
