About All District Reads

Who We Are

ADR aims to partner with public school districts and communities to foster children’s early literacy.

How We Do It

Twice a year, fall and spring, school districts select a book that all elementary students read at the same time. ADR supports school administrators and teachers by creating a packet with content questions and a reading schedule, as well as providing training. Together, every family reads a chapter of the book at night. The next day, there aren’t tests but rewards for participating in trivia questions about the chapter. Our goal is to cultivate a passion for reading and enhance early literacy among elementary school students, particularly those in lower-income and minority communities.

How All District Reads does it

"This dynamic reading event is fostering a community-wide ‘uplift‘ of literacy.”

– Senior Director of Early Learning and Title I, Dr. Kelli Cedo

“We think getting children to read for pleasure is the missing piece of the puzzle.”

– Suffolk Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. John B. Gordon, III
